S-CAB Throttle-v2.5

The S-CAB throttle is a hand-held, battery powered, wireless controller which transmits DCC commands directly to a locomotive's compatible S-CAB receiver. Except for decoder, no DCC equipment is required. Throttle's battery is recharged using USB cable (included with throttle purchase) plugged into computer or powered USB hub.
Firmware upgrades are available for older versions of the throttle.
Throttle v2.5 radio can be configured to operate at either 916.48 MHz (S-CAB default) or 918.12 MHz (compatible with CVP T5000 throttle). Throttle and receivers must use same frequency.

S-CAB Receivers

An S-CAB receiver can connect directly to a decoder's microprocessor (direct radio connect, DRC) or indirectly using a DCC booster. DRC is available for selected NCE and SoundTraxx decoders.

LXR-v4.3b

An S-CAB receiver for direct radio connection with NCE D13J, D408, SoundTraxx TSU-2200 and TSU-4400 decoders. 
​There are no components on reverse side of circuit board.

LXR-DCC

Receiver integrated with DCC booster for use with decoders where DRC is not feasible. Used with TSU-1100 decoders.

Decoders

These are NMRA-standard DCC decoders integrated with an S-CAB radio receiver using direct radio connect. They are installed in exactly the same manner as the original decoder.

Non-sound decoders

NCE decoders are used for non-sound packages. Three versions are available with ratings of 1 and 4 amps.
  • D13J: 1 amp with 9-pin JST connector.
  • D16MTC: 1 amp with 21-pin NEM socket.
  • D408SR: 4 amp

​NCE D408SR with LXR-v4.3b Receiver

A 4 amp non-sound decoder for O-scale and larger. Compared to decoder, the receiver requires very little extra space and is connected by approx. 3 inch leads. ​This decoder cannot be powered by S-CAB battery power supply.

Sound decoders

SoundTraxx decoders are used for sound packages. Four versions are available with ratings of 1, 2 and 4 amps.​
  • ECO-21PNEM: 1 amp with 21-pin NEM socket.
  • TSU-21PNEM: 1 amp with 21-pin NEM socket.
  • TSU-2200: 2 amp with 9-pin JST connector.
  • TSU-4400: 4 amp, with screw terminals.

TSU-1100 with LXR-DCC

The TSU-1100 is packaged with the LXR-DCC receiver and is not available with DRC. The TSU-21PNEM has same capability and is less expensive.

TSU-2200 with LXR-v4.3b Receiver

​The TSU-2200 is a universal 2 Amp digital sound decoder. It is suitable for a wide variety of models from HO to S scale.

TSU-4400 with LXR-v4.3b Receiver

​4 amp decoder:  This 4-amp, universal-style digital sound decoder is suitable for models with higher stall currents such as some S, O, and large scale locomotives. This decoder cannot be powered by S-CAB battery power supply.
​Decoder Dimensions:  2.72"x 1.2"x 0.55" (69 x 30 x 14 mm)

BPS-v4:  Battery Power Supply

​An on-board, battery powered, 11 volt, 1 amp DC power supply.

An on-board, 3.7 volt, 1-amp battery power supply for coach and caboose LED lighting.

BPS Batteries

Specifically for use with BPS Battery Power Supply. Cells can be connected in parallel to increase storage capacity. Each BPS battery package is assembled with 2.5" leads, JST plug and a fuse for short-circuit protection.

Double cell (2P) batteries

Storage capacity is increased by connecting 2 LiPo cells in parallel. Voltage is same as single cell, but energy storage is increased. For example, two 850 mAh cells in parallel provides 1700 mAh (1.7 Ah) storage. Standard package has back-to-back cells, which doubles thickness, but length and width is same as single cell.

Special Installation Situations
Battery power projects in HO scale locos often encounter difficult space limitations A battery arrangement configured to fit the available space can sometimes be helpful.
Split cell assembly: A double cell battery can be assembled with 2 cells connected by a length of wire that allows half of the battery (one cell) to be mounted each side of a loco motor or each side of a tender.
